There is a lot going on in Halsey's directorial debut and first video of her sophomore era.

Halsey recently announced that she is dropping a new single on Thursday (October 4) called “Without Me” and casually shared the artwork over the weekend. As it turns out, the cover is very October-appropriate with its scary skull and creepy butterfly. It will be interesting to see if this is the first taste of the 24-year-old’s third LP or a stand-alone single for Halloween. (There’s always the possibly that the song will feature on a rerelease of Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary).

After embracing bold, radio-friendly pop on her sophomore LP, it looks like Halsey is taking things in a darker, more alternative direction on “Without Me.” The “Bad At Love” hitmaker shared a snippet on Instagram a couple of days ago and it finds her deep in her feelings. “Said I’d catch you if you fall,” she sings over eerie production. “Does it ever get lonely.” That snippet was accompanied by a preview of the video, which finds the pop star looking suitably emotional in the rain. Check out the cover art and revisit the snippet below.
