Lauv & Julia Michaels Lit Up ‘The Late Show’ With “There’s No Way”

Lauv and Julia Michaels took over The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for a flirty performance of their new single, “There’s No Way.” The hitmakers unveiled their sweet collaboration last week, and they highlighted their chemistry for the first televised performance. Filling the stage with smoke and dazzling purple and blue lights, they danced around one another as a band played in the background. “Every second with you I want another. But maybe we can hold off for one sec so we can keep this tension in check. But there’s no way that it’s not going there,” they sang in harmony. Both delivered compelling vocals, and they went in for an adorable hug after singing their final notes. Truly, Julia’s happy dance at the end is one of the best things you will see this week.

“There’s No Way” is already shaping up to be a hit for the pair. In less than a week it has amassed more than 3 million streams on Spotify. Meanwhile the accompanying video has been viewed more than 2 million times on YouTube. With any luck they will ride the success up the Billboard Hot 100. Lauv soared into the Top 30 with his streaming giant, “I Like Me Better.” The track is still sitting at the number 34 spot. I’d like to see “There’s No Way” hit even higher. Julia has been due for another chart-dominating release since last year’s “Issues” just missed out on the Top 10, and this could very well be it.
