MAX has really come into his own as a pop star since landing a sleeper hit with “Lights Down Low.” That romantic bop seemingly came out of nowhere last year, quietly creeping up the Billboard Hot 100 until it cracked the top 20 and sold platinum. Since then, the 26-year-old has landed a handful of features (Noah Cyrus’ “Team” and Louis The Child’s “Dear Sense”) and rolled out the lead single from his upcoming House Of Divine album. That song, “Still New York,” hinted at a new sound and “Worship” takes it even further.

The instantly catchy single owes a debt to Prince and all of the soul-pop artists that have followed. “Worship” finds MAX getting the most out of his falsetto as he serenades his lady with lines like: “Take me to places I have never been, I’m riding with you till the very end.” The silver-tongued crooner saves the best for the chorus. “I will worship you like it’s a Sunday,” he declares over squiggly synths. It sounds like a hit. Make sure you check out the video, which co-stars Crystal The Monkey, up top.
