Jesse Saint John celebrated his birthday by sharing new music with his fans. The hitmaker, who has written certified bangers for the likes of Britney Spears (Glory highlight “Love Me Down”), Charli XCX (“Secret (Shh)”) and Camila Cabello (“Something’s Gotta Give”), launched an artist project with the release of the irresistible “MOVE” earlier this year. He followed that up with his retrospective bop “FAKE IT” and kept the solid-gold releases going with the unveiling of “WHAT DO U LIKE.” In honor of his 29th birthday, he dropped his latest single Friday (October 5), and it is his most pop-forward song yet.

Over a dazzling production, he enjoys one last night with a lover. “Baby, can’t get back the time I wasted falling for you. Cause you’re flying out tomorrow so let’s savor tonight,” he seductively coos. “And I’m dying like a martyr, pleasure, pain I could cry. Baby, tell me what you’re craving.” Moving into the chorus, he gets even flirtier with his promises. “If that’s the way you want it, I could go all night. No I don’t wanna kill, don’t wanna kill your high.” The end result is an infectious serving of pristine pop. With the right push, this could easily net the rising star his first bona fide hit on the charts.

“WHAT DO U LIKE” is set to appear on Jesse’s debut EP, don’t stop dancing. life gets sad. In a post on Instagram he elaborated about what to expect on the release. “The overall theme of my new EP ‘don’t stop dancing. life gets sad.’ is the ways that we distract ourselves from lingering pain & sadness to get through our everyday lives,” he wrote. “It’s fun dance music but I hope we FEEL something too.” After showing off his clever lyricism on Kim Petras’ spooky Turn Off The Light, Vol. 1 mixtape earlier this month, it is safe to say that the project should be on all of your radars.
