We can officially say we have a new body of work from Ashlee Simpson in 2018! Today (October 12) she and Evan Ross delivered a love song for every occasion on their debut EP, Ashlee + Evan. The husband and wife team revealed plans to link up for a musical project back in September. Charting the process with a reality show on E!, they proceeded to grace us a new single every week. They kicked off the campaign by saying “I Do” on their besotted lead single. Fans of the “Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya)” siren’s plucky solo material were in for a sweet surprise on the loved-up anthem. “You’re asking me if I love you. I do, I do, I do,” the duo crooned over sugary strings on the adorable chorus.

From there, they have followed through on their promise of gradually rolling out the collection. With each release, it was increasingly clear just how eclectic Ashlee + Evan would be. On no track is that more evident than the slinky “Paris.” Here, the lovers trade in the endearing vows and strip down for a sexy romp. “Naked in Paris, terrace. Roses, vintage, in paradise. On the velvet, helpless. Let’s play with the games we bought,” Ashlee sensually coos over the growling production. The bop paints quite the picture, and it emerges as a clear highlight on the EP. “Safe Zone” is equally sensual, though it features a more atmospheric production. “You walk into my safe zone, until our colors explode. Red light. Supernatural chemicals, sparking flames until we lose our minds,” she teases.

Evan takes the lead on “Tonic,” a club-ready cut about how his lover hits the spot. “Gimme your attention. Baby, I can’t hold back,” he pleads before moving into the chorus. “You’re my tonic. My vodka tonic,” he sings in harmony with Ashlee. The strings on “I Want You” make for another high point. “Baby you’re making me whole. It’s so good for my heart. It’s so good for my soul,” Evan vows on the opening verse. “Love me with your pleasure. Help me through the pain. Hold me through the sunshine and kiss me in the rain,” the “Boyfriend” siren adds. Both of their voices sound exceptional on the track, which practically begs for a live performance (more on that later).

The lovers close out the EP with their newest anthem, “Home.” This signifies a return to the cutesy vibes of “I Do.” Here the pair seem even more settled into their happily ever after. “This little life that I made for myself keeps me satisfied. This little love is satisfied. All I need to satisfy me,” Ashlee earnestly croons. “Not always easy, but it’s what we wanted. Swore myself to you when we started,” she adds. It is a chill-inducing moment from the pair, and it seems like it may be one of the most sure-fire hits on the collection. Prayerfully, they’ll roll out a music video and tailor this one to radio for the winter.

That’s not all though. Ashlee and Evan also revealed plans to tour North America together in early 2019. They’ll kick things off with a set in New York City January 7 before traveling across the continent with stops in major markets including Nashville, Chicago and Dallas. It all comes to a close on January 19 with a set in Los Angeles. Tickets are available for pre-order as of October 16. But hopefully this is just the start. If things move forward accordingly, I’d love to see Ashlee and Evan embark on a larger tour later in the year.
