Brandi Carlile & Sam Smith Join Forces For A Duet Version Of “Party Of One”
Grab a tissue! Brandi Carlile calls on Sam Smith for a new version of gut-wrenching ballad, “Party Of One.” A standout on the singer/songwriter’s critically-adored By The Way, I Forgive You LP, the duet version packs an even stronger emotional punch. “This is a song about deep and enduring compassion,” Brandi explains. “It’s about trying to navigate domesticity, love and particularly marriage whilst being willed to fail by those that would revoke that right if they could.” She then raves about her collaborator.
“I’m beyond proud to have collaborated with the incredible Sam Smith,” “The Story” hitmaker says. “There is no one quite like him and I’ve never heard a voice like his before. He’s an absolute gentleman and a sweetheart and I’m proud to call him my friend.” It turns out, the Brit feels the same way. “I am so excited for everyone to have this song in their ears and hearts,” Sam enthuses. “Working with Brandi Carlile is truly one of the highlights of my career. Her voice and songwriting get me through the dark days.”
The duet was produced by Dave Cobb and recorded at Los Angeles’ famed Capitol Studios. A portion of the profits from “Party Of One” will be donated to Children In Conflict via Brandi’s Looking Out Foundation as part of its campaign to raise $1 million for children impacted by war.
