Rozzi and Scott Hoying of Pentatonix have a serious hit on their hands with “Lose Us.” The college friends turned collaborators play the role of lovers on the cusp of a breakup on their evocative duet. “Looking at you, my old best friend. Is this a phase, is this the end,” they ask before facing reality on the mournful chorus. “We’re gonna lose us now. Can’t fight the truth that we found. Yeah, we been growing distant suddenly, and I can’t believe that I won’t be there for you.” Highlighting their incredible range over a simple but memorable production, the song leaves a lasting impression.

Today (October 18), they bring the engaging anthem to life in its accompanying video, which was shot on location in Malibu, California. Directed by Nick Leopold, it puts a unique twist on their unraveling relationship. In it, the lovers visibly pull apart from one another in various intimate settings. However, their private drama is escalated to a public scale as the camera pans out and reveals that it is taking place on open-air set pieces. Both Rozzi and Scott deliver aching performances, and the sun-dappled cinematography is absolutely stunning.

Not only is the final result gorgeous, but it sounds like the duo had a fantastic time together on set. “I went to Scott’s Pentatonix show the night before we shot this video. We both had a little too much fun at the concert and spent the next day deliriously tired and laughing at everything,” Rozzi explained. “It was the most fun I’ve ever had on a video shoot. Turns out being naked in front of strangers in a freezing cold bath tub is a great cure for a hangover!!!”

Scott echoed her sentiments and opened up about the collaboration. “Working with my college best friend Rozzi was a dream come true. We’ve been wanting to release a song together for years, and the song personally means so much to us both,” he gushed. “The video is the perfect visual representation of the song, and was so much fun to shoot.” The last quarter of the year will be action-packed for both hitmakers. Scott is gearing up to release Christmas Is Here!, Pentatonix’s new holiday album. The a cappella supergroup will embark on a tour in support of the project.

Meanwhile, Rozzi will unveil her debut album, Bad Together, November 16. The rising star has come a long way since attracting the attention of Adam Levine at the age of 19. The songs she has released in 2018 have been one better than the next, so it goes without saying that the album should be filled with quality content. “Lose Us” is more evidence of that, and you do not want to miss out. We are proud to partner with the pair to premiere the video. Check it out up top!
