Billie Eilish continued her incredible hot streak with the release of “when the party’s over” earlier this month. Over a shadowy production courtesy of frequent collaborator and brother Finneas O’Connell, the mega-talented 16-year-old takes a partner to task for interrupting her in the middle of an event. “I’ll only hurt you if you let me,” she warns. “Call me friend but keep me closer, and I’ll call you when the party’s over.” Unsurprisingly, the rising star has yet another streaming hit on her hands. It has amassed an impressive 15 million streams on Spotify alone in just over a week. Meanwhile the audio file has been listened to more than 7.5 million times on YouTube. Today (October 25), she unveiled the accompanying video, and it is an equally eerie thing of beauty.

In it, the “you should see me in a crown” siren takes center stage. Sitting in an all-white room, Billie drinks a mysterious black substance, which then pours out of her eyes. The resulting mess leaves a very visible mark on her pristine surroundings. Simple but utterly captivating, you will not be able to look away. It turns out the project had a very specific inspiration – fan art. “A bit ago, I was given this beautiful piece of art from a fan that was a drawing of me with black eyes leaking. I thought it was visually really dope and I wanted to physically create it,” she explained in a press release. “I called everyone on my team and told them exactly what I had in mind. Everyone that worked on it was amazing and it turned out unreal!”
