Pop music is officially saved, and we owe it all to Carly Rae Jepsen. Today (November 1), the “Run Away With Me” legend launched a new era with the release of “Party For One.” It has been a while since the hitmaker graced us with one of her undeniable anthems. But it was well worth the wait. Produced by Captain Cuts and HIGHTOWER, the 32-year-old’s latest is as infectious as ever. Over an effervescent beat, she sings about embracing the single life after calling things off with a partner. “Party for one. If you don’t care about me, I’ll just dance by myself,” she declares before taking things one step further. “I’ll be the one. If you don’t care about me, making love to myself. Back on my beat.” Relatable and absolutely carefree, it’s a welcome return.

The Canadian pop star opened up about the single in a press release. “To me ‘Party For One’ is an anthem of what it is to celebrate time with yourself, which is a hard thing for people to really enjoy sometimes, and it’s something I’m learning to do more and more,” CRJ explained. The song will land on her forthcoming album, due in 2019. It also provides a glimpse into the LP’s unifying theme. “This song represents a lot of what this album is about for me which is romantic love but self-love too.” Things are moving along nicely for Carly. After building anticipation over the course of the last week or so, she will deliver a premiere performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon November 5. She also rolled out a video, which is a predictably cheeky affair that brings the bop to life with a little twist.
