Olivia O'Brien Interview
We speak to the breakout star about 'I Hate U, I Love U' and new music.

Since breaking big in 2016 with “i hate u, i love u,” Olivia O’Brien has continued to refine her sound with a string of eclectic singles and a well-received EP. The 18-year-old is now putting the finishing touches on her debut album. And it’s shaping up to be something special — at least, if bops like “UDK”and “I Don’t Exist” (below) are any indication. Her hot streak continues today (November 16) with “Care Less More.” An R&B-infused anthem about the games we play in order to not get hurt, Olivia’s latest is as catchy as it is relatable.

The rising star also impresses with an arty video. “This is the first time I have done choreography for one of my songs, even though it’s pretty minimal,” she says of the movement-filled clip. “I was a dancer for most of my life, so it was cool to go back to my roots.” Not that it was easy to get back into that head space. “This video means a lot to me, I really had to step out of my comfort zone and push myself to not be afraid of failing. I hope you guys like it as much as I do.” What’s not to like?

We’re excited to premiere Olivia’s “Care Less More” video up top.
