Your guide to New Music Friday featuring gems from Nightly and Poppy.

Nashville’s Nightly quietly released one of the best EPs of 2018 in November. Razor-sharp and hook-heavy, The Sound Of Your Voice is a concentrated dose of anthemic (yet slightly emo) synth-pop. While previous singles “Phantom” and “S.T.A.Y.” are probably the best starting place for the uninitiated, all six songs deserve your attention. Take “Who Am I To You.” The alt-pop duo just released a video for the punchy song and it finds Jonathan Capeci and Joey Beretta performing against an intricate light show.

“We worked with our good friend Nolan Knight on this video in Nashville,” Nightly explains. “Our vision was to incorporate the colors and themes from our EP artwork into a live performance. For both our EPs, we have used color to tell a story. In this second EP era, we use two colors [red and blue] that are super contrasting, expressing two emotions that are opposing, yet so closely tied to one another, like love and heartache.” We’re excited to premiere the striking visual below.
