Christina Aguilera Will Headline ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’

2018 may have been a trying year, but there were some bright spots that made it survivable. One of the best of those was the return of Christina Aguilera. The 37-year-old ended a six-year dry spell between albums with the unveiling of Liberation this summer. And the album has been a serious triumph. It birthed a North American tour and netted Legend X two nominations for the 2019 Grammys. All things considered, it makes sense that we would select the “Accelerate” diva to liberate us from 2018 with a headlining performance at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Today (December 13) Billboard reported she was scheduled to perform at Times Square minutes before we ring in 2019.

Xtina will be in good company. Other performers for the NYC show include Bastille, Dan + Shay and New Kids On The Block. Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy assumed hosting duties for the event. However, that’s not all they have planned to ring in the New Year. Ciara will host an event on the west coast, with performances from Shawn Mendes, Dua Lipa, Halsey, Camila Cabello and more. There’s also one for those on Central Time hosted by actress Lucy Hale. That includes performances from Florida Georgia Line and Maren Morris. And who will ring in 2019 with the first televised performance? That honor goes to Post Malone.

Last year Britney Spears took on the responsibility, closing 2017 and opening 2018 with performances from the final show of her Piece Of Me residency. We’ll have to wait and see what Xtina performs. However, I’m holding out hope she treats us to a Liberation mega-mix. If not I’ll settle for a performance of “Fall In Line” or the truly excellent “Deserve.” While we wait for confirmation, revisit the former below!
