The Drop: Lennon Stella & Carlie Hanson
Your guide to New Music Friday featuring gems from Lennon Stella and Carlie Hanson.

From working at McDonald’s to releasing a string of streaming hits and touring with Troye Sivan, Carlie Hanson’s Cinderella story has been well documented. The 18-year-old adds another chapter with the arrival of “Numb.” This is a brutally-honest banger about the fear of being hurt again. “You do you, I’ll do me,” the Wisconsin native lays down the law over sinister trap beats. “I’ll call you back, when I feel the need.” Carlie is even more direct on the catchy chorus.

“I’m so numb, I can’t lie,” she admits. “I’d be fine if you left tonight.” The reason for the rising star’s commitment issues? “I lost too much, when I got too close,” Carlie reveals in a later verse. “Which is why I can’t stay, I gotta go.” Fair enough. “Numb” is darker and grittier than the teenager’s previous songs — and all the better for it. This is easily her best single to date and yet another reason to get excited about her debut EP, which is due in early 2019. Listen to the future hit below.
