Sam Smith's 'The Thrill Of It All:' Album Review
The Brit weathers heartache and comes out stronger on 'The Thrill Of It All.'

Sam Smith closes out an eclectic 2018 (he dropped a rap remix of “Pray” featuring Logic and conquered clubs with Calvin Harris’ “Promises”) with “Fire On Fire.” The theme song to a new adaptation of Richard Adams’ Watership Down finds the Brit returning to more familiar territory. Produced by Steve Mac, the stunning ballad was recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios with the BBC Concert Orchestra. “They say that we’re out of control and some say we’re sinners, but don’t let them ruin our beautiful rhythms,” he croons on the chorus.

“You are perfection, my only direction,” Sam adds. “It’s fire on fire.” The song packs a real emotional punch and boasts one of the 26-year-old’s best vocal performances. Which is really saying something. “I am so excited and honored to be a part of this new adaptation of Watership Down,” the hitmaker says. “This story is so powerful and timeless, and it has been thrilling to work with director Noam Murro and his team and the incredible Steve Mac on this song for it. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.” Listen below.
