The 100 Best Singles Of 2018
From Lana Del Rey to Robyn, we rank the 100 best singles of 2018.

Lana Del Rey’s “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have — but i have it” dropped last night (January 8) and it’s every bit as seductive and sprawling as the title suggests. Yet another collaboration with Jack Antonoff, the prolific chanteuse’s latest delivers stripped-back production and stream-of-consciousness lyrics. “I’ve been tearing around in my fucking nightgown, 24/7 Sylvia Plath,” she laments on the chorus. “Don’t ask if I’m happy, you know that I’m not, but at best I can say I’m not sad.”

Well, I guess that’s progress from the pitch-black musings of Born To Die, Paradise and Ultraviolence. Interestingly, the press release refers to “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me” as a “fan track,” and explicitly states that the lead single from Norman Fucking Rockwell, Lana’s amazingly-titled 6th LP, is still to come. Whatever the fate of this demented gem might be, it’s another notable entry in what is fast becoming one of music’s most intriguing discographies. Listen below.
