Dua Lipa Searches For New Beginnings On Her Epic “Swan Song”

Dua Lipa is kicking off 2019 with another hit. Last year saw the 23-year-old soar to new heights with a slew of club-ready bops. Following the breathtaking success of “New Rules,” she returned to the Top 3 in the UK with “IDGAF.” But that was just the start of things. The Grammy nominee claimed another #1 alongside Calvin Harris on “One Kiss” and landed in the Top 5 with her Silk City (Mark Ronson and Diplo) collaboration “Electricity.” And it looks like she’ll be flying right back up into the upper reaches of the charts on the back of her latest release. Today (January 24), she unveiled her contribution to the Alita: Battle Angel soundtrack – “Swan Song.” Despite what the title suggests, this is anything but a final statement from the hitmaker.

Instead, she uses the soaring anthem as an opportunity for new beginnings. On it, she faces down a series of obstacles that land in her path. “I, I can’t lie. I’m scared to open my eyes. ‘Cause what if I find nothing at all,” she sings over a suitably epic production. However, the chorus acts as a call to arms. “This is not a, this is not a swan, swan song. We just gotta, we just gotta hold on tonight,” she commands. “It’s a new life.” She also rolled out the accompanying video. Visuals for soundtrack singles can be rather hit or miss, but this one does a great job integrating Dua into the film’s world. All things considered, this could easily be her next song to dominate the charts. Give the song a spin and check out the dramatic video below!
