Change Of Plans: Meghan Trainor Announces ‘The Love Train’ EP

It looks like Meghan Trainor’s highly anticipated third LP, Treat Myself, is still a work in progress. Last year the 25-year-old kicked off her new era with a handful of iridescent bops including lead single “No Excuses” and the massively underrated “Let You Be Right.” Everything was set for an August release date. However, the pop princess pushed things back in order to take more time to record. “I’m in such an amazing place and I can’t stop writing songs,” she explained at the time. “I’ve decided to move my new album Treat Myself until I get everything out of my head and recorded in the studio.” Her tentative goal was to drop the LP January 25, 2019. But the date has come and gone, and we’re still waiting to hear what the newlywed is cooking up.

All hope is not lost, though. Today (February 4), Meghan hopped online to confirm that we’d be hearing new music before the end of the week. Instead of dropping another single, she’s rolling out a new EP’s worth of material. Called The Love Train, it arrives this Friday. The six-track collection contains the previously released “All The Ways,” but the rest is all new music. It also appears to include a collaboration with her father – Gary Trainor. The duo linked up on the closing track, Good Mornin’.” If the titles are anything to go off, she will also address her husband Daryl Sabara on songs like “Marry Me.” With any luck, one of the tracks will pick up and net the hitmaker another “All About That Bass”-sized smash.
