Katy Perry Goes Avant-Garde On The Cover Of ‘Paper’ Magazine

Well, it isn’t new music, but Katy Perry is sweetening the end of the week with a new photoshoot. Although Stan Twitter was abuzz with rumors about the impending release of her Zedd collaboration “365,” it is nowhere to be seen. However, there are a couple consolation prizes. Sunday the 34-year-old will ascend the stage at the 2019 Grammys to partake in a Dolly Parton tribute with the likes of Kacey Musgraves. And today (February 8), she got all dolled up for an avant-garde spread in Paper magazine. Posing for Juno Calypso, the theme of the shoot appears to be transformation. And there is no denying that they pulled it off.

Bleaching her brows and rocking a variety of wigs, Katy looks every bit the experimental supermodel. She also gives us some fashion fit for the convent and a couple other chic gowns. It is a fun and fresh shoot for the icon, who has been making a concentrated effort to mix it up a bit in recent spreads. Unfortunately, the accompanying interview doesn’t offer much insight into the status of new music. Instead, it enforces beliefs that the Witness diva is taking a small step back from recording in 2019. Why? Although she said she still loves music, touring “tires [her] out.” That doesn’t mean she won’t be keeping busy this year. There are plenty of other projects in the works, ranging from American Idol to coaching rising star CYN.

Oh yeah, there’s that headlining set at the 2019 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, too! We stan a legend with creative range. Scroll through a gallery of photos from the shoot up top and dive into the rest of Katy’s interview to see what is in store here!
