The rising R&B singer makes a great impression with the moody 'Can't Love.'

UPDATE: The post has been edited to include Dennis’ cinematic “Never Go Back” video, which captures the highs and lows of a holiday romance. Watch below.

Israeli singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Dennis Lloyd landed a global hit with “Nevermind.” After going viral on Spotify (435 million streams and counting), the drowsy deep-house anthem cracked the top 10 in most European markets and made serious waves in the US — eventually peaking at number 86 on the Billboard Hot 100. The 25-year-old now follows it up with the equally catchy “Never Go Back.” The languid break-up song is a blur of hand claps and guitar chords with a splash of trumpet and a lot of very real emotion.

“I wrote it after [I broke up with my ex] during a really lonely time when I felt depressed,” Dennis says of “Never Go Back.” In fact, the song was a form of therapy. “If I don’t feel anything, I don’t write music. But I wrote and recorded this in 45 minutes. The song is a dialogue between her and me. It’s part of a group of four songs that tells the whole story.” The rising star is supporting the track with a North American tour that kicks off in Vancouver, Canada on April 7 and winds up at the Firefly Festival on June 21.
