Monsta X is kicking off the work week in serious style. Today (February 18), the K-Pop Kings take yet another step toward global domination with the unveiling of their new album, Take.2 We Are Here. The 10-track collection acts as a follow-up to last year’s Take.1 Are You There?, which debuted within the Top 10 on Billboard’s World Album Chart. Since then the septet has been on an incredible hot streak. They made history as the first K-Pop group to headline Jingle Ball. Not only that, but they left crowds across North America gasping with their intricately choreographed sets. And their latest is sure to keep the forward momentum going strong.

Renowned for their highly conceptual projects, Take.2 We Are Here is no exception. According to a press release, this time around the group focused on the idea of “finding hope between loss and wondering.” And the end result contains no shortage of bangers. Chief amongst them is lead single “Alligator.” Opening with the ominous sound of a blaring alarm, the track picks up speed as the guys kick things into motion. “The main focus of “Alligator” is its storm-like melody. Once you hear it, you will never forget it” Minhyuk explained in the press release. Kihyun chimed in as well: “’Alligator’s’ main takeaway is its passionate performance and hectic melody. It will be a song that you will want to listen to again and again!”

The generous group celebrated release day by dropping a moody video in support of the track. It features a slew of chic looks, some appropriately dark staging and incredible dance routines. Of course, an alligator also makes an appearance. And just like that, it looks like Monsta X has another mega-viral visual on their hands. Since its unveiling, it has amassed nearly 800,000 views on YouTube. Another highlight on the tracklist is the group’s Steve Aoki-assisted “Play It Cool.” Anticipation has been high to hear this since it was announced last week. Unsurprisingly, the end result is an infectious bop with plenty of replay factor. And the rest of the collection is just as strong.

After an initial listen, the rip-roaring “Rodeo” and vibey “No Reason” emerged as some personal favorites. The same could be said for the breezy closer “Party Time,” which is guaranteed to be stuck in your head. Wonho shared a bit more insight into the LP and what the group hopes to accomplish. “We diligently prepared each song and I hope everyone will love the album,” he said. “Also with this promotion, we have prepared to show our charm not only in Korea, but also to U.S Monbebe’s creating many unforgettable memories.” All things considered, I’d say they definitely achieved those goals.
