Jax Jones teams up with the rising UK pop star for new banger, 'Ring Ring.'

Mabel is probably best known in the US for her feature on Jax Jones’ “Ring Ring,” but that’s about change. The 23-year-old Brit has a global hit on her hands with “Don’t Call Me Up.” Produced by Steve Mac, the feisty, bass-heavy breakup anthem (there are no tears here) has already racked up close to 40 million streams on Spotify and is currently sitting pretty at number 5 in the UK. The appeal is obvious. This is the most instant and relatable pop song since Dua Lipa’s “New Rules.” It might take a minute, but the US will catch on eventually.

“Don’t call me up I’m going out tonight, feeling good now you’re outta my life,” Mabel sings on the anthemic chorus. “Don’t wanna talk about us, gotta leave it behind — one drink and you’re outta my mind.” And this isn’t a case of putting on a brave face. The breakout star is feeling liberated and ready to party. “Don’t Call Me Up” is the song that Mabel has been waiting for. The daughter of absurdly talented couple Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack producer Cameron McVey was pegged for greatness since debuting with “Know Me Better” in 2015.

Since then, she has carved out a niche as one of the UK’s most exciting new artists with a string of top 40 hits including “Finders Keepers,” “My Lover” and “Fine Line.” It seems that Mabel is finally ready to take things to the next level.
