Ellie Goulding Announces 'Flux'
She's back! The UK pop star will kick off her 4th LP with a single called 'Flux.'

Ellie Goulding has been extremely good to us lately. The UK pop star contributed a song called “Do You Remember” to the Fighting With My Family soundtrack and filmed a video for “Mama,” her club collaboration with Clean Bandit. This afternoon (February 28), she rolls out the lead single of her 4th LP — a haunting ballad called “Flux,” which is a throwback to the stripped-back sound of her debut. “Still in love with the idea of loving you,” Ellie sings over lashings of strings and piano keys. “It’s a state of flux, but it’s not enough.”

“[It’s] a song that I wrote entirely from the heart that seemed to capture how I felt about not ever being able to let go of a past love, even though it was over for a reason,” the 32-year-old explained in the press release. “I feel like I am in a constant state of change and upheaval, and it makes me unable to root myself and get over things easily. On this record I found myself taking inspiration from different relationships and stages in my life.” She realized that the life of a globe-trotting pop star isn’t without drawbacks.

“The past two years have been the first time I’ve really been able to confront my survival techniques throughout my work — to be able to reflect on how being on tour nonstop, performing, and having to be ‘ok’ all the time affected me as a human being and how it took its toll on my relationships,” Ellie elaborated. The video for “Flux” also arrived today and it’s a stunning black-and-white affair that finds our heroine rolling around in satin sheets and posing in couture. It’s elegant and understated just like the song. Watch below.
