Lizzo Delivers A Glamorous Shoot For ‘Allure,’ Talks New Album
Lizzo is poised for breakout success in 2019. R&B/pop’s best-kept secret is gearing up for the unveiling of her major-label debut LP on April 19. Called Cuz I Love You, it houses her infectious single “Juice” and will be supported by a headlining tour. Anticipation is already high, and it is likely to ratchet up a couple more notches with the unveiling of a gorgeous photoshoot for Allure magazine. The 30-year-old covers the publication’s first issue of the year and delivers no shortage of exceptionally glamorous looks. Shot by Luke Gilford, the “Boys” hitmaker poses in a couple lovely gowns.
In the accompanying interview, Lizzo shared some insight into the album. In particular, she explained that one of her initial goals was to make a record that sounded like “Aretha made a rap album.” The rising star also reflected on how her musical message bisects with other movements. “The body-positive movement is the body-positive movement, and we high five. We’re parallel. But my movement is my movement,” she said. “When all the dust has settled on the groundbreaking-ness, I’m going to still be doing this. I’m not going to suddenly change. I’m going to still be telling my life story through music. And if that’s body positive to you, amen. That’s feminist to you, amen. If that’s pro-black to you, amen. Because ma’am, I’m all of those things.”
