Lost Hit: Sky Ferreira's '99 Tears'
Missed chance. The alt-pop diva had a hit on her hands with '99 Tears.'

Hell just froze over and pigs are flying. After a series of never-ending delays and setbacks, Sky Ferreira will finally kick off her sophomore era on March 27. The 26-year-old shared the gloomy cover art of “Downhill Lullaby” on social media after hinting at new music in a series of tweets. “The first song isn’t a pop song… because I really want to make a video for it (& I love it),” she tweeted a couple of weeks ago. “I’m confident about all of the pop songs on my record so I decided to start with something different.”

In another update, Sky hinted at an aggressive sound. “Listened to my final mix,” the “Everything Is Embarrassing” icon revealed. “It shattered my screen.” She even revealed one of her collaborators. “Some of these songs might lean — accidentally – little — far — too-deep — v agro bittersweet symphony but… whatever,” she tweeted at Tamryn. The dark/pop artist later replied with: “Yes it’s true! The fires of Hell are a-glowing and the Grisly Reaper is mowing… in other words, the new [Sky Ferreira] era is upon us and I’m proud to say I’m part of it.”

It will be interesting to see if Sky’s sophomore LP is still called Masochism and if any of the songs she recorded with Mike Dean, Rahki and Ariel Rechtshaid still make the cut. See the stunning cover below.
