The Drop: St. Vincent & AMWIN
Your guide to New Music Friday featuring gems from St. Vincent, AMWIN and Uffie.

Sweden’s AMWIN first appeared on my radar last year with catchy pop anthems like “Uber” and “Living Mistake.” Both bops feature on the rising star’s debut EP, AMWIN In Wonderland. However, the highlight of the six-song set name-checks another flawless pop diva. “Dua Lipa” is a frothy pop concoction that captures the headiness of new love. “I wanted to make a song that’s just about straight up being in love with someone,” the 22-year-old explains. “No compromising. No playing it cool. Just straight ‘I love you, I love you, I love you.'”

How does the “New Rules” hitmaker enter the equation? Well, she is referenced in each verse. “Like Dua Lipa, I would do anything for you,” AMWIN begins the song. “Catch me flexin’, flexin’, flexin’ on the corner, you keep it tighter than the North Korean border.” We stan a lyricist! My favorite reference comes in the final verse. “Like Dua Lipa, you a keeper,” the Swede raps. “Track of my life and I want you to feature.” The song is very, very cute and almost unfathomably catchy.
