FLETCHER’s Winning Streak Continues With “If You’re Gonna Lie”
FLETCHER is currently climbing the Billboard Hot 100 with “Undrunk.” The breakout star could soon have a second song on the countdown courtesy of “If You’re Gonna Lie.” A prequel to the breakup anguish of her breakthrough hit, this brutally honest bop finds Cari (her real name) knee-deep in relationship hell. “I kinda like it when you hurt me, ’cause you come over saying sorry,” she admits in an early verse. “So I put up with your lies just to have you for the night, baby.”
The chorus, which positively drips in self-loathing, is even more revealing. “So if you’re gonna lie, do it in my bed,” FLETCHER sings. “If you’re gonna lie, make it worth it.” It will be interesting to see where the 25-year-old takes us on her next single. A rebound bop? A banger about getting back on the proverbial horse? Or perhaps a ditty about taking a timeout. Whatever the case, it’s destined to be great.
