Future Hit: 'Someone You Loved'
Lewis Capaldi's 'Someone You Loved' is a raw ballad with huge hit potential.

Lewis Capaldi caught lightning in a bottle with “Someone You Loved.” The raw, stripped-back ballad caught fire on Spotify and crossed over to radio. The tearjerker then climbed all the way to number one in the UK and cracked the top 10 in most major markets across Europe. It’s only a matter of time before “Someone You Loved” wreaks havoc on the Billboard Hot 100, but the Brit has kindly rolled out a new track while we wait. And it’s another emotional sucker punch that painstakingly depicts the end of a relationship.

“Hold me while you wait, I wish that I was good enough,” the singer/songwriter laments on the wonderfully depressing chorus. “If only I could wake you up, my love, my love, my love, my love. Won’t you stay a while?” Something tells me he won’t get the answer he’s looking for. Given the quality of “Someone You Loved and “Hold Me While You Wait” (not to mention previously released singles “Bruises” and “Grace”), Lewis’ gloriously-titled Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent (out May 17) is shaping up to one hell of a debut LP.
