Kylie Minogue Announces 'Step Back In Time'
Kylie is releasing a 42-track greatest hits on June 28 including one new song.

Kylie Minogue surprised fans earlier this week by announcing a 42-track greatest hits compilation called Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection (out June 28). Of particular interest is the one new song, “New York City.” The DJ Fresh-produced banger dropped today and it’s a campy, frothy throwback to ’90s Kylie. In fact, it reminds me of Rhythm Of Love gem “One Boy Girl,” which is not a sentence I expected to be writing today. Yes, the holy pop goddess semi-raps (ok, sing-talks) the verses before launching into a big, gay chorus.

“I’m on the first plane to New York, we could do a real time walk that walk,” the pint-sized diva coos over retro synths. “I’m so tired of that talk talk talk, I just wanna get to you.” The song really takes flight when Kylie arrives at the chorus. “New York City, everybody looks so pretty,” she belts. “It’s givin’ me those feelings, I just love the feels with you… with New York City.” The track is a charming leftover from the Golden era. Or more specifically, the dance-pop album Kylie started recording before touching down in Nashville.

As much as I love Golden, it’s nice to have Kylie back where she belongs (i.e. on the dance floor). Listen to her new bop below.
