Shawn Mendes' 'If I Can't Have You'
The Canadian pop star launches his 4th LP with 'If I Can't Have You.'

Shawn Mendes came, saw and conquered Saturday Night Live with the first live performance of “If I Can’t Have You.” The Canadian pop star was supported by a full band and delivered a rich sound despite seemingly having audio difficulties at the beginning of the song. (He kept playing with his inner ear feed). As expected, given its upbeat pop/rock approach, the song sounds great live and is destined to be a highlight of Shawn’s next tour. It would also sound amazing mashed with Kelly Clarkson’s similarly-titled track.

Co-written with teddy<3 and Scott Harris, “If I Can’t Have You” is the lead single from Shawn’s 4th LP. Given that the previous three have debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, it goes without saying that expectations are high. Happily, the track is shaping up to be another smash. “If I Can’t Have You” shot straight to number one on iTunes (it’s currently number two behind the all-conquering “Old Town Road”) and is getting a very warm reception from pop radio. Watch the song’s live debut on SNL up top.
