Well, New Music Friday is shaping up to be very interesting this week. We’re already expecting a new Justin Bieber/Ed Sheeran duet and Ciara’s highly anticipated album Beauty Marks to arrive. That’s not all, though. Today (May 7) we learned Meghan Trainor has a song on the way, too. Taking to social media, the 25-year-old announced the impending release of “Badass Woman.” “So excited for u all to hear my new song,” she wrote in an official announcement. The track will land on the soundtrack for The Hustle, which stars Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson. And based on a snippet, it sounds like a feminist banger.

“I’m a badass woman. What’s wrong with that? Can’t hold me back,” Meghan belts out over shimmery beats. The song signifies the first new material we’ll hear from her since she dropped The Love Train EP earlier this year. But it looks like she has even more music on the way in the near future. In a recent red carpet interview with ET, the diva teased the release of a new single tentatively titled “Funk.” The track is off her third studio album, which was originally due out last year. Why did that change? According to the hitmaker, she was too inspired to stop recording. Thankfully, things finally seem to be coming together.

It will be interesting to see if the LP is still titled Treat Myself and how much it has changed in recent months. I don’t know about you, but I’l be keeping an eye peeled for more news about “Funk.” In the meantime, check out her “Badass Woman” announcement and listen to the snippet below.
