The first single from Avicii's posthumous 'Tim' LP features Aloe Blacc.

Avicii’s posthumous LP, Tim, takes shape with the arrival of “Tough Love.” Finished by frequent collaborators Vargas & Lagola, the track incorporates sounds from northwest India. “Oddly enough, the Indian influences fit perfectly into a song we were working on, something that was so typical of Tim” says Vincent Pontare (one half of Vargas & Lagola). “He was a melodic genius.” That isn’t hyperbole. The late producer effortlessly weaves exotic sounds into an emotional banger about the ups and downs of a relationship.

“This one needs to be a duet,” Avicii wrote in his notes. “Coolest thing would be a real couple. Or a couple that have worked together enough to be almost considered a couple.” And he got his wish. Pontare asked his wife, Swedish pop star Agnes, to lend her powerhouse vocals to the song. (Justice for “Release Me”). Given the quality of “S.O.S.” and “Tough Love” (below), it looks like the Swede was working on his most ambitious and multi-layered album yet at the time of his death. Tim drops on June 6.
