Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus Drop An “Old Town Road” Video

Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” is on track to be one of if not the biggest song of 2019. A remix of the country/trap crossover anthem featuring Billy Ray Cyrus has reigned supreme on the Billboard Hot 100 for the last six weeks. In that time it stopped both Shawn Mendes’ “If I Can’t Have You” and Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie’s “ME!” from claiming the highest honors on the chart. And, according to a report from Billboard, it looks like it will have the same effect on Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran’s very catchy “I Don’t Care” next week.

That’s not all, though. In fact, a newly released music video is likely to extend their run at the top spot even further into the coming weeks. Out today (May 17), the Calmatic-directed visual features some seriously star-studded cameos and a time-traveling plot. In it, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray play outlaws who escape a frantic race in 1889. However, there’s a slight twist. In doing so they wind up in 2019. Along the way they encounter everyone from Chris Rock and Diplo to the song’s beat creator YoungKio. The end result is a decidedly unexpected adventure, but it works just as well as the instantly hummable single.
