Luke Combs drops another country classic with 'Beer Never Broke My Heart.'

EDIT: Luke Combs’ The Prequel dropped today (June 7) and it’s all killer, no filler. “Even Though I’m Leaving” is an obvious highlight, but all the songs are top-notch country. Stream the full EP below.

Luke Combs is releasing a 5-track EP called The Prequel on June 7. It’s the country singer’s first extended body of work since dropping the deluxe edition of This One’s For You in mid-2018. And it’s already shaping up to be huge. The EP’s lead single, “Beer Never Broke My Heart,” broke the first-week streaming record for a country song (11 million) and made debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at a splashy number 29. Other tracks on the EP include “Refrigerator Door,” “Even Though I’m Leaving” and “Moon Over Mexico.”

With five consecutive number one country airplay hits (i.e. every song he has released), Luke is the genre’s hottest new star. And the appeal is obvious. At a time when country is increasingly indistinguishable from pop, the 29-year-old is a throwback to old-school country. He sings about beer, broken hearts and… that’s about it. Which is oddly very refreshing. See the full tracklist for The Prequel below. You can pre-order it here and revisit the honky tonk goodness of “Beer Never Broke My Heart” below.

Luke Combs’ The Prequel tracklist:

1. Beer Never Broke My Heart

2. Refrigerator Door

3. Even Though I’m Leaving

4. Lovin’ On You

5. Moon Over Mexico
