Katy Announces 'Never Really Over'
A new era begins! Katy Perry announces comeback single, 'Never Really Over.'

You have to hand it to Katy Perry. At a time when vertical videos filmed on an assistant’s iPhone constitutes promotion, the pop star continues to deliver blockbuster visuals and cohesive eras. That trend continues today (May 29) with the release of a video teaser for “Never Really Over.” The 30-second clip finds our heroine working on herself in a self-help retreat that looks like something out of a Yorgos Lanthimos or Sofia Coppola movie. The color scheme is light and airy, but the humor is pitch black.

“It’s a place where you go to heal your heart and let go of any remnants of energy from older relationships,” a voiceover explains as Katy indulges in (slightly unnerving) group activities. “A place of tranquility and synchronicity… a place to learn that there is a push and a pull to healing.” The goal of this getaway? To learn that “while sometimes it can feel like those old relationships will never really be over, through the activities and surroundings you will learn to heal and finally let it go.” I hope it works for her!

While the audio of “Never Really Over” is tightly under wraps, the songwriting and production credits have been revealed. Behind-the-scenes collaborators include Zedd, Gino Barletta, Dreamlab and Norwegian pop star Dagny. Watch Katy’s “Never Really Over” video teaser below.
