Mika Announces New Album ‘My Name Is Michael Holbrook,’ Drops “Ice Cream”

Mika is back! It’s been four years since the 35-year-old dropped his last studio album – No Place In Heaven. Thankfully, plans are in motion for the impending release of a new LP titled My Name Is Michael Holbrook. The collection, his fifth, arrives October 4. But he kicked things into motion with the unveiling of the project’s catchy lead single “Ice Cream.” Out Friday (May 31), the track is a cheeky bop perfectly tailored for the summer months. “I want your ice cream, I want it lying in the sun,” he pleads on the chorus. “I want your ice cream, I want it melting on my tongue.”

“Ice Cream was written on a day of extreme heat,” Mike explained in a press release. “It was the last few weeks of writing for the album; a writing period that lasted two years. Through the writing I had confronted personal, serious and at times painful issues, now I felt lighter and freer.” He offered up a bit more insight about what it represented as well. “The song is a daydream fantasy,” he explained. “It shimmers like a mirage, and makes me feel like anything is possible. Inspired by the irreverent attitude of the music of the 90s; George Michael among others.”

While that would be enough for most, the “Grace Kelly” hitmaker rolled out another surprise over the weekend. Mika announced plans to travel Europe on the Revelation Tour. Opening in November, the show runs through Valentine’s Day, 2020. Tickets will be available for pre-order as of June 7. In the meantime, press play on “Ice Cream” and check out the dates below.
