The Drop: Bene & Ingrid Michaelson
Your guide to New Music Friday featuring gems from Bene and Ingrid Michaelson.

Ingrid Michaelson trading in her trademark singer/songwriter fare for ’80s-influenced synth-pop is one of 2019’s most unexpected (and welcome) developments. The “Girls Chase Boys” hitmaker is releasing an entire album of songs inspired by cult TV show Stranger Things and it’s shaping up to be something special if “Missing You” and “Jealous” are any indication. The latter arrived on Friday (May 31) and it’s a brutally honest bop about the Green-Eyed Monster. “[It] was inspired by the moment in the show when Eleven knocks Max off of her skateboard,” Ingrid reveals.

“She knows it’s not like her to do something like that, and I related,” the pop veteran continues. “I do bad things when I’m jealous, and I thought that was a relatable concept. I have gotten a lot better. I think it’s good to admit the things you need to work on, maybe even sing about them.” No doubt, Ingrid will perform the catchy pop song on The Dramatic Tour, which kicks off in Washington, DC on September 24. See all the dates and listen to “Jealous” below. Stranger Songs drops on June 28. You can pre-order it here.
