Matthew Koma Puts Zedd On Blast In Scathing Statement
UPDATE: Zedd issued a formal response to Matthew Koma’s statement. Check it out below.
Another day, another drama. Matthew Koma put former collaborator Zedd on blast in a newly shared statement. The pair worked together on a string of hits starting with 2012’s “Spectrum.” They found even more success with Zedd’s breakout anthem “Clarity.” However, the songwriter and vocalist made it abundantly clear that their professional relationship is over. “In response to years of: ‘what happened to you & Zedd’. I want to finally be transparent about this,” he wrote in a message shared on social media yesterday (June 5). “It’s a really sad truth because I’m extremely proud of the work he and I did together.”
“Unfortunately my good feelings towards these songs have all but disappeared as they were experienced alongside someone so toxic and self serving that it occupied the space where any happiness could exist.” Koma went on to explain where he felt their relationship went sour. “From the beginning, his inferiority complex was made obvious,” he wrote. “More or less, I was just brushed under the rug while he took all the credit.” He added that he was not alone in his feelings. “For years I thought maybe it was me,” Koma admitted. “But over time, I’d run into other people who worked with him… and the sentiment was shared. He’s the worst.”
He fit in a couple more digs before closing out the statement. “Now, he has plenty of people to write his songs and produce his tracks and help him continue on his trajectory. But I rather work at Starbucks and clean toilets than ever experience that abusive dynamic again.” Thus far, Zedd hasn’t issued a response of his own. Keep an eye on this post, and we’ll get it updated if one appears. In the meantime, read Matthew’s full statement below.
Zedd’s Response
Matt, I am sorry you feel this way. I don’t feel the same, nor do I agree with your description of our history together. I supported you in every single area I had control over as I do with any and all of my collaborators.

I will forever be grateful to you and your contributions to my career. I continue to wish you all the best.
