Selena Gomez Reveals That Her New Album Is “Finally Done”
The good news? Selena Gomez revealed that the long-awaited follow-up to Revival is “finally done” in a red-carpet interview. The bad news? We’ve heard it all before. The pop star first started giving updates on SG2 way back in 2016 when she recorded the first draft of the album on a tour bus. A mixture of ill health and relationship drama (understandably) postponed the release, and Selena started working on a whole new batch of songs when she was ready to get back in the studio.
The 26-year-old gave a little insight into the process in an Instagram live video earlier this year. “I’m currently in the studio right now and it’s going really good,” the hitmaker told fans. “I’m just nervous about it, honestly, ’cause I feel like the next few choices that I’m gonna make are very crucial.” As such, Selena is taking her time to get it right. “So I’m trying to be really, really diligent and just patient with everything.” Since then, she has shared further updates on social media (below).
Of course, Selena hasn’t let her loyal Selenators starve while she puts the finishing touches on SG2. Over the last couple of years, pop’s most generous queen has release a steady stream of one-off singles and collaborations. They have all been great, but we really need the album. With any luck, the lead single will arrive before the end of the summer. But don’t hold your breath. Just yet.
