Are Camila Cabello & Shawn Mendes Teasing A New Duet?
UPDATE: It’s official! Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes will drop their new single “Señorita” this Friday (June 21). Check out the cover art below.
Camila Cabello has been heavily teasing the arrival of new music for a while now. Last month, she told fans that it was the calm before the storm set in. And she was most definitely not joking. Shortly after making that announcement, her Mark Ronson collaboration “Find U Again” arrived. The emo-pop confection racked up 24 million Spotify streams in the last few weeks, and it is just the start of what appears to be a deluge of content. The 22-year-old also landed a spot on Ed Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations Project. She lends her voice to a track called “South Of The Border” alongside Cardi B. And now it looks like she has a duet coming with Shawn Mendes.
Yesterday (June 19) the hitmakers started laying the groundwork for a new project. How? By posting what appear to be teaser videos on social media. Shawn kicked things off with one on his account, and Camila followed up with another a few hours later. In them, the “Never Be The Same” diva plays a waitress in a retro diner who captures the attention of her collaborator. They’ve yet to comment on the videos. However, fans are speculating that a single is coming very soon. Of course, this wouldn’t mark their first joint release. Back in 2015 they linked up on “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
The anthem signified Camila’s first official single as a solo artist and rocketed into the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. A second song from the duo is all but guaranteed to chart even higher now. If one does drop, it will be interesting to see if it lands on one of their new albums or if it is a standalone project. No matter what, it is bound to be utter perfection. While we wait for more information, check out the teasers below.
