ALMA's 'Chasing Highs' Video
ALMA hits Las Vegas in her neon-drenched, party-themed 'Chasing Highs' video.

EDIT: This post has been updated to include the intense Deni Cheng-directed video. Watch it below.

ALMA is having a banner 2019. The Finnish pop star has been active behind-the-scenes, penning “Mother’s Daughter” and “Cattitude” for Miley Cyrus’ She Is Coming EP. The 23-year-old is also putting the finishing touches on her debut album. And if songs like “Cowboy” and “When I Die” are any indication, it’s going to be something special. Her winning streak continues with “Lonely Night,” a different kind of Pride anthem. It’s about the emotional aftermath of being used for attention or experimentation.

“What a lonely night, what a lonely night,” ALMA sings over a downhearted disco arrangement courtesy of HitImpulse. “She said I love you, but not the way you do.” It turns out the song is based on personal experience. “I fell in love with a girl who was playing with me for a while but end of the day didn’t love me back,” the breakout star reveals. “Girls kissing girls for fun is such a normal thing we see that in clubs and in movies. It’s sexy and we like to watch it. But I personally never want to be just someone’s experience or fun thing to try out.”

She was quick to clarify the statement. “Experimenting with your sexuality is all well and good but for those of us who know what we are and what we want, it can cause hurt and upset,” ALMA elaborates. “If you want to kiss me you should be able also date me someday.” Watch the moody video below.
