Hayley Kiyoko's 'Expectations' Interview
We speak to Hayley about her killer debut LP and being an out pop star.

After dropping a trio of sublime EPs, Hayley Kiyoko’s debut album finally arrived last year and made her one of the breakout pop stars of 2018. Expectations was a commercial success, debuting at number 12 on the Billboard 200 and spawning the hits “Curious” and “What I Need.” It was also critically adored, making several year-end lists. As such, anticipation for the 28-year-old’s sophomore LP is huge. Particularly with news that the album’s lead single, “I Wish,” is coming soon.

Lesbian Jesus shared a video teaser earlier today (July 9), which revealed the song title and little else. The clip shows Hayley dressed in what appears to be a school uniform with her fingers crossed behind her back. It’s already clear that the visual is going to be epic. In addition to chipping away at her second album, the LGBTQIA+ icon also made a cameo in Taylor Swift’s star-studded “You Need To Calm Down” video. Get a taste of Hayley’s own blockbuster video below.
