Beyoncé Soars On Cast Recording Of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”
Disney shook The Hive to its core when they announced that Beyoncé had curated and produced an entire album for The Lion King. We’ll have to wait until next week (July 19, to be specific) for The Lion King: The Gift to arrive in full, but the standard soundtrack dropped today and it includes a couple of contributions from Queen Bey. First and foremost, there’s “Spirit” — the soaring power ballad that shot straight into the top 10 on iTunes and a cast recording of an enduring classic.
Elton John’s “Can You Hear The Love Tonight” was one of the breakout hits from the original animated film, and it gets suitably respectful treatment in the live action reboot. Beyoncé does the heavy lifting vocally, but Donald Glover, Seth Rogan and Billie Eichner share the billing. It’s a cute reintroduction to the characters, but hopefully we get a solo version from Beyoncé at some point because this isn’t really it.
