UPDATE: Lil Nas X released an animated video for his latest “Old Town Road” remix. Watch him and his collaborators storm Area 51 in the release below.

Lil Nas X is very close to landing the longest-running number one on the Billboard Hot 100. This week marked the 14th that “Old Town Road” reigned supreme – a feat only 10 songs have achieved. Now, the Atlanta artist is within striking distance of making history. Only two songs managed to remain number one longer than the 14-week mark. Those are Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” and Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee’s Justin Bieber-featuring “Despacito.” Both ran for 16 weeks, tying for the best tenure on the chart. But at the rate things are going, they face stiff competition for the title.

There are a few roadblocks in the way, though. The biggest is a remix of Billie Eilish’s “bad guy” featuring Bieber. The original is currently sitting at number 2 on the chart, and a surge of sales and streaming may be enough to help it rise above. It’s bound to be a tight race. However Lil Nas X recruited some friends to help even things out. Today (July 12), he tapped Billy Ray Cyrus, Young Thug and Mason Ramsey for another remix of the country/trap crossover anthem. It’s an interesting line-up of genre-blending hitmakers, but the final results stays true to the original’s roots. Will it be enough to help it retain its spot? We’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, press play on the latest version of Lil Nas X’s chart-conquering mega-hit below.
