Sabrina Carpenter’s Singular: Act II really is shaping up to be excellent. The 20-year-old drops the sequel to last year’s Act I next week. Luckily, we don’t have to wait that long for another taste of the tracklist. Today (July 12), she joins the New Music Friday lineup with “I’m Fakin.” Produced by Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, it’s one of the catchiest songs we’ve heard from the project yet. On it, she paints a picture of a relationship with plenty of ups and downs. “We’re picking fights. We’re fully grown. How come we get so immature when we’re alone,” she asks.

“I roll my eyes. You check your phone. You say I’m overly dramatic, and I know.” But Sabrina reveals just how attached she is on the chorus. “I’m slamming the door, but I’m staying. I make up my mind then I change it. It’s you that I want when we’re breaking. Every time I tell you that we’re done I’m faking.” The irresistible and relatable bop joins previously released gems including “Pushing 20,” “Exhale” and “In My Bed.” And it definitely serves its purpose. At this point, I’m more excited than ever before to hear the rest of what she’s cooked up. Give “I’m Fakin” a listen below.
