Missy Elliott serves some very fierce looks in a new spread for Marie Claire. The rap icon covers the publication’s August edition. Posing for Micaiah Carter, she shows out in a vibrant look complete with a chain carrying a bedazzled “ICONIC” medallion. “The Legend Returns,” the cover reads alongside the pic. Meanwhile, the rest of the photos are equally colorful with bold makeup and plenty of accessories. And the accompanying feature, out today (July 15), is a must-read. In it, there is mention of her long-awaited seventh album.

Her last LP, The Cookbook, arrived in 2005 and housed classics including her Ciara-assisted “Lose Control.” Since then, Missy’s graced us with some feisty collabs and one-off singles. However, anticipation is high for a new body of work. And it is on the way. Her goal for the release? To leave people realizing that ““There’s no one like Missy” after listening. That’s an ambitious aim but one that is totally achievable for the enduring hitmaker. The interview also includes several other gems about her childhood dreams of being a superstar, making it and famous collaborators including Tweet.

Scroll through a gallery of photos from the spread up top and read the rest of the feature here.
