The Swedish pop duo celebrates friendship in their giddy 'Brightside' video.

A whopping six years have passed since Icona Pop rolled out This Is… Icona Pop, but the Swedish pop duo is almost ready to unleash the followup. Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo returned to New Music Friday on July 26 with a banger called “Next Mistake.” Produced by Hudson Mohawke, Nanno Veen and YARO, the ’90s-evoking floor filler is optimistic and fatalistic in equal measures. “I’m not your baby, but I’m falling in your arms tonight,” they sing over retro house keys. “You could be my next mistake, I’ve been making them for all my life.”

“Next Mistake is about all those bad choices you made that were worth it, about all those mistakes in your life that make you human,” Icona Pop explains. While the “I Love It” hitmakers have been chipping away at this album for several years, they have never really gone away. Instead, Caroline and Aino have lent their voice to a long line of collaborations including the iconic “Bitches” (alongside Tove Lo, Charli XCX, Elliphant and ALMA), and Peking Duk’s “Let You Down.” Take a listen to the extremely catchy “Next Mistake” below.
