Megan Thee Stallion is arguably the breakout star of 2019. She cracked the Billboard Hot 100 with “Big Ole Freak” and cracked the top 10 with her debut EP, Fever. The rapper’s booming popularity is partly due to her online presence. Megan coined the phrase #hotgirlsummer, which has not only gone viral — but also started something of a movement. The 24-year-old is even in the process of trademarking the term, which simply means to live “unapologetically.” It only makes sense then that she release a song with that title.

“HOTGIRL SUMMER” was originally supposed to drop tonight (August 2), but Megan has pushed it back a week. “Hotties I [know] I said my song ‘HOTGIRL SUMMER’ would be dropping tomorrow but now it’s dropping 8/9,” she tweeted this morning. “I promise it’s sooo worth the wait.” About that delay. Well, fans are speculating that the hitmaker needs more time to accommodate a Nicki Minaj feature. And they could be right. After all, the rappers went viral when they shared an Instagram live video recently. See Megan’s announcement below.
