Katy Returns With 'Never Really Over'
Katy Perry is back with a Song Of The Summer contender called 'Never Really Over.'

Katy Perry dissects matters of the heart with the skill of a surgeon. When she’s not detailing the danger of an old flame suddenly reigniting (“Never Really Over”), the pop star is coming to terms with a current love petering out. That’s the subject matter of “Small Talk.” Co-written with Johan Carlsson, Charlie Puth and Jacob Kasher, the second taste of KP5 is every bit as addictive and deceptively deep as the first. “Isn’t it strange that you used to know me?” she ponders over muted synths. “All the highs and lows and in-betweens, and now you see me and just say ‘hey.'”

The mid-tempo delight springs to life on the instantly catchy chorus. “I just can’t believe we went from strangers to lovers to strangers in a lifetime,” Katy belts, before a post-chorus surprise: “Small talk.” With any luck, this will build on the momentum of “Never Really Over” and become another mega-hit for the 34-year-old. Speaking of hits, the American Idol judge was awarded a plaque commemorating 100 million RIAA song certifications. A feat only four other artists (Drake, Eminem, Rihanna and Taylor Swift) have achieved. Fall in love with “Small Talk” below.
