5 Seconds Of Summer Taps Charlie Puth For “Easier” Remix

5 Seconds Of Summer breathes new life into current single “Easier” by teaming up with Charlie Puth for a remixed update. Easily one of the group’s best releases to date, the catchy bop amassed more than 105 million Spotify streams. That translated into a very respectable performance on the charts. In Australia, the song peaked just outside the Top 10. Meanwhile, it came very close to cracking the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. Out today (August 13), the updated version doesn’t stray far from the original.

Charlie, who co-wrote and -produced the track, adds his distinctive flair with a new verse. “Why you always looking at your phone? Watching people you don’t even know,” he croons over the pop-leaning production. “I don’t want us to be enemies, so I’m thinking maybe I should leave. ‘Cause you’re bringing out the worse in me.” The “Attention” hitmaker also offers up an interpretation of the chorus and some additional vocals throughout. With any luck, the update will give the song a second wind on the charts.

Either way, it looks like 5SOS is already gearing up to drop more new music. Earlier this month they teased the second single off their upcoming album. However, there is a twist. It looks like the song will pull double duty and land on the soundtrack for the upcoming season of 13 Reasons Why, too. While we wait for more news about that, check out the updated version of “Easier” below.
