The Mutt Ball! Katy Perry Teases Dog-Themed “Small Talk” Video
Katy Perry never cuts corners with music videos. From the jungle-themed shenanigans of “Roar” to the (literal) visual feast of “Bon Appetit,” the pop star always delivers. That remains true of the KP5 era. “Never Really Over” is a tangerine-tinged daydream that finds our heroine recovering from heartache in a new age cult. For “Small Talk,” Katy is turning her attention to the dog world. “Just some #SmallTalk on #InternationalDogDay with [Nugget],” she captioned a glamorous pic with her pooch. “See you at The Mutt Ball, where we make fetch happen, on Friday, August 30.”
Expect looks, glamor and lots of adorable doggies. Hopefully, a viral video can give “Small Talk” a kickstart on the charts. The catchy track, which finds Katy dealing with the emotional numbness that creeps into a dying relationship, debuted at number 81 on the Billboard Hot 100, but disappeared shortly thereafter. Perhaps, it’s a slow-burn hit that will pick up as radio airplay kicks in. Arriving so soon after the still-charting “Never Really Over” also might have confused fans — a state of affairs that will be remedied by an iconic video. See Katy’s post below.
